Basil II distrusted his native Byzantine guardsmen, whose loyalties could quickly change. The proven loyalty of the Varangian\'s led Basil II to employ them as his personal guard. Over the years, new recruits from the North kept a predominantly Scandinavian cast to the organization. So at this years Midnight at the Oasis we have Vikings! Will you be a traitor to Emperor Basil II or will you be a loyal Scandinavian Guard?
