Event Information

Flight of the Falcon III
(2008-08-23 - Site opens at 9 AM & Closes at 9 PM)
Aire Faucon

So, you’ve got a newcomer who wants to go to an event, and there’s Pennsic, which is a bad idea for a newcomer, and there’s Baronial Birthday, which might be a little too big, and there’s Coronation, which is definitely too big. Or you’ve been itching to get ahold of some newcomers and brainwa… excuse us, educate them in the fun that is the SCA.

And oh, yeah, everybody’s broke because gas is $5/gal (or might just be by the time this event hits!), so you’re looking for a low-cost way to have some fun.

So here it is - $5 to get in, $5 to eat feast! It doesn’t get much cheaper than that these days. Nonmembers will be $8 to get in. Make checks payable to SCA Inc/Canton of Aire Falcon.

So what’s going to happen? Pretty much anything a newcomer would want. Heavy fighting, rapier fighting, demonstrations, classes, stuff to look at, stuff to buy, stuff to do… basically, stuff.

So if you know a newcomer who wants to come, bring ‘em. If you want to show the newcomers something, bring it. If you want to teach a class to newcomers (or people who’ve been around awhile, even), let us know. If you wanna fight, bring your armor. If you wanna eat, bring some feast gear. Feast will be served to the first 50 people that RESERVE SPACE WITH MONEY. (Otherwise we’ll just throw it all out the back door for the cats.)

Speciality of the day: Novice Spear Tourney. Yes, there will be regular heavy combat, but Atlantia doesn’t have enough spears. Therefore there will be a Novice Spear Tourney, format to be decided. The prize will be a set of gauntlets from Bokalo’s Armoury (Moric Style Box Gauntlets, just like Jonathan Blackbow’s, because they can take a beating and they’re not ridiculously expensive!) Event Steward and HMIC reserve the right to define “novice”. Short version: if you think of yourself as a novice or beginner or “not one of the best” spearmen, you’ll probably meet our definition. Ask before you show up if you’re not sure. (blackbow@carolina.rr.com)

Heavy fighting: format TBD depending on # of people showing up. If you have any ideas or preferences, Talorgen’s email is talorgen@bardiccircle.org .

Feast: Wynne Gruffyd of Clan Roanwoulfe is cooking, with assistance from Lady Brianna O’Duinn of Clan Roanwoulfe. Any concerns should be communicated via wynne@roanwoulfe.com.
