A Day in the Middle East

The Barony of Dun Carraig invites you to return to another day in the Medieval Middle East. There will be the usual drumming, dancing and enough fabulous food & drink to keep all attendees happy all day. For more info, please see http://www.duncarraig.net/middle_eastern/

When: February 28, 2009. Site opens at 9 AM and closes at 10 PM.

Martial Activities: As is tradition, there will be no fighting activities planned for the day. This is a day to catch up with your friends, play on your drum, learn a new dance and eat a great feast.

Arts & Sciences Activities: Artisans of all sorts are encouraged to show off their work at our A&S display. We will be having some competitions. Details will be posted shortly.

Cost: A generous day board will be available for all of our guests. Due to this, we request that even day-tripers also pre-register to ensure adequate food and drink are purchased for all attendees. All those who pre-register (on or off board) will be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize!

Site Amenities and Restrictions: Site is wet; candles are permitted in glass containers. No Smoking in the building; allowed in the designated smoking area.

Feast: Mistress Kiri has been persuaded to once again present a wonderful variety of intricate and tasty Middle Eastern dishes. This year, Lord Gormr will be tackling the mezze (dayboard) to keep the guests going throughout the day. Please contact Cook@mideast.DunCarraig.net with dietary concerns. Dining at low tables will be available, so please bring pillows to make yourselves comfortable if this is your choice. Traditional seating will also be provided.

Merchants: There is NO merchant fee, but space is very limited. All that is required is a paid pre-reservation. Tables will be provided. Merchant spaces will be reserved on a first come/first served basis.

Directions:
From the DC Area: Take your best route to the 5 South exit on the southern side of DC Beltway (Exit 7A). Just before the town of Waldorf, 301 will merge with 5. You will need to make a Left turn to stay on 5. Take MD 5 South approx 20 miles and turn Right onto Chaptico Mechanicsville Rd (flashing light). Take your first right onto Old Village Rd. Church of the Immaculate Conception will soon be on your Left. Turn into the drive and follow it around behind the church to the separate Hall building.

From the Baltimore Area: Take your best route to 301 South. Just before the town of Waldorf, make a left turn onto Maryland 5 South. Continue using DC Area directions.

From the Virginia Area: Take your best route to 301 North across the Potomac River. You will drive through the town of Waldorf. Just after leaving Waldorf, turn right onto Mattawoman-Beantown Road. Then, make a right onto 5 South. Continue using DC Area directions.

From South of the 301 Bridge: Take your best route to the 301 bridge. Follow 301 north to 234. Turn right onto 234 and go approx 11 miles to Chaptico Mechanicsville Rd . Turn left. Take Chaptico Mechancisville Rd. approximately 5.5 miles. Turn left onto Old Village Rd. Church of the Immaculate Conception will soon be on your Left. Turn into the drive and follow it around behind the church to the separate Hall building.
