The year is 1296, and William Wallace has returned from his travels abroad. Call him anything, but never call him late for a party! The festive activities are just getting started, so come join us for a day of good old-fashioned fightin’, traditional highland games, camaraderie & frolicking . . . and of course, the Ceilidh!

Saturday’s Highland Games to include sheaf toss, hammer throw, caber toss, stone put, archery, and knife/axe throw. The populace is encouraged to participate. For the heavy fighters, there will be a tavern brawl. Plus Friday evening’s “Retalio Primo Nocte” torchlight tourney is not to be missed! Who will be named Braveheart for overall achievement of the day? Prizes will be awarded during the feast! The Ceilidh (pr. KAYlee, Scottish version of the Hafla) will follow the feast with music, bardic, & dancing!

A&S: Mistress Sine ni Dheaghiadh is planning A&S competitions with a romantic Scottish theme. There will also be a brewing competition.

Feast: Matsudaira Kentarou Toshiyori (aka Oshi) will prepare a sumptuous feast with some Scottish dishes, including a roasted pig.

Site: Elchenburg Castle, 2239 Center Road, Booneville, NC 27011

Site Restrictions: Site is wet. No pets except service animals. Please take your refuse with you when you leave. Elchenburg is a primitive camping site. There is a farmhouse that has been outfitted as a bath house, with flush toilets and hot showers. For non-campers, there are hotels in nearby Yadkinville, Jonesville, Elkin, and Booneville.

Directions:
From Hwy 421 and Points south: Take your best route to I-77 North. Take exit 82 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. *Proceed less than a mile and turn right onto Messick Rd. Proceed to the end of Messick Rd, and turn left on Center Road. Approx 8 miles later is a Pure Oil gas station on the left. 1.4 miles past the Pure Oil station, turn right on Willow Spring Lane, just past Mitchel Chapel. Signs will be posted.

From I-81 and Points North: Proceed to I-77 South to Exit 82, turn left at the exit ramp, use directions from *

From the East: From Interstate 40, take exit to Highway 421 toward Boone and Yadkinville. This road exits from I40 on the west side of Winston Salem near the intersection of Business I40 and Bypass I40. Continue on 421 until the Yadkinville/Highway 601 exit. At the end of the exit ramp in Yadkinville, turn right toward Booneville. Proceed into Yadkinville, and turn left onto old Highway 421. From old 421 one turn right on Booger Swamp Road, and at the end of Booger Swamp, turn right on Center Road. Turn left onto Willow Spring Lane.
