Night on the Town VIII
(2006-04-14 - 2006-04-16 - Site opens at 3:00 PM & Closes at 3:00 PM)
Roxbury Mill

On an unusually warm and sunny winter afternoon, the Mayor of Smeewick steps up to the podium to deliver his address.

"Good people of Smeewick, our town were once a beacon onto the Kingdom. Now, it has been ravaged beyond recognition by pirates and gypsies. We owe it to ourselves and our children to restore Smeewick to its former glory!"

...and so it began. The poor peasants of Smeewick were tasked day and night to rebuild, replant and not to rest until the town met the approval of the nobles. To add insult to injury, the Restorative Tax was levied on the peasant population. After all, they were working hard and earning money but had not the time to spend it, so it seemed the logical choice to the nobles.

...but the reality was a misery that no noble could have imagined. The peasants were exhausted, hungry, and harboring a feverish discontent.

The past few nights a figure was seen in the shadows preaching to an unruly mob. He is a peasant - a charismatic peasant. His voice, fueled by the fury of maltreatment and injustice, boomed over the raucous crowd: "They steal our pittance like cold-hearted thieves! Come spring, we shall take back what is ours - our farms! Our food! Our gold! BY FORCE! WHO IS WITH ME?"
