Panem et Circenses - join us for our Roman holiday as we celebrate Sacred Stone\'s 36th birthday. A week-end of learning, fighting and great company: something for everyone.

Martial Activities: Heavy Fighters: The melee field battle you\'ve been waiting for. Their Excellencies desire a multi-man tournament to best display the fighters competing for the title of Baronial Champion. Sir Marc has once again sponsored his famous sword tourney. Are you up for the challenge? Youth fighters: Their Excellencies are searching for a Youth Champion - come fight for the honour. And never to be outdone, there will be a mystery melee fought. Stay tuned for details. Rapier: TBD Archery: Mistress Lorelei is running archery. Thrown weapons: TBD (we regret there will not be cavalry activities at SSBB this year)

Arts & Sciences Activities: Let it never be said that Sacred Stone lacks for competitive spirit! Our competitions include Roman Garb, head to toe -Bling, Bling, Bling. Show us your best Roman style headwear, jewelry, garb, or footwear. Documentation required.

How Roman are you? Scroll blank challenges: Create a scroll blank based on Pompeian style of wall murals. Documentation is required. Baronial Phoenix scrolls. Scroll blanks based on birds of the middle ages. Documentation is required.

Best Birthday cake competition. Calling all Baronial Bakers - as we celebrate Sacred Stone\'s XXXVI birthday, bake your best birthday cake. Cakes should have XXXVI on them but will be judged by the populace ages 12 and under purely for taste. The remaining cake will be served at the theatre experience on Saturday evening.

Peer challenges:
Mistress Eden\'s Challenge - Calling all Pelicans. Like to help? We need YOU to participate in this challenge. Take a shift at troll. Be a waterberer. Help in the kitchen. Assist newcomers. Retain for the royals. Have your hours of service documented. The one with the most service wins a small prize.

Mistress Annora -
Which came first the Phoenix or the Egg? Best recipe and dish of chicken or egg or both. Extra consideration will be given for recipes dating before the year one thousand. Documentation is required

Maistra Lidia de Ragusa -
Balkan Basket: Throughout the Middle Ages, the Balkans connected West and East. As a crossroads, many cultures left their mark in the Balkans. Whether Roman/Byzantine, Venetian, Ottoman, Hungarian, or something else, explain the connection your A&S project/display has to this region, either through your documentation or any other innovative way (try to talk my ear off), and meet my Balkan Basket challenge. All mediums welcome. There will be a prize for whomever best meets the challenge

Mesterno Bessenyei Rozsa:
Best Vexillum or Dacian Draco. No documentation required. Follow the links provided on the SSBB site for basic information on these two Roman standards. They can be made out of any materials desired, just use your imagination and have fun. Please display them around the field during the day to add to the ambiance of the event. A sign-up sheet will be placed with the A&S competitions so that we can ensure that all entrants are included in the competition.

Site: Elchenburg Castle, 2239 Center Road, Boonville, NC 27011. Site opens 4pm Friday, closes noon Sunday.

Site Restrictions: Pets much be leashed and supervised at all times. No swimming in the pond. This is a primitive site. Handicapped camping will be available, please contact the Event Steward for more information.

Feast Information: Our feast will it be based on The Opera of Bartolomeo Scappi, arguably the most famous chef of the Italian Renaissance… Menu is posted ( https://sacred-stone-birthday-2018.myfreesites.net/feast ) While eating this sumptuous meal, you won\'t be bored - there will be various entertainments occurring throughout feast including Roman gladiator fighting. Well worth every penny.

Other Information: Our day board is based on a travelers welcome from the town of San Gimignano circa 10th century of foods that would be put out for travelers from Northern Europe to Jerusalem to entice them to stay in the town for a night. Come see the debates in the amphitheater. Not up for strictly intellectual pursuits? Someone will be recreating Roman Hairstyles. Living History Displays by Legio VI Ferrata Fidelis Constans Over 2000 years ago, the original Legio VI was created in Cisapline Gaul and placed under the command of Gaius Julius Caesar. Many of the champions of Sacred Stone are searching for their successors: others are eager to promote their field. The rumor is that the gods might walk among us, with so much going on. If you can find them and gather a token from each can you even imagine the riches in store? Not sure where to look? Perhaps a visit to the oracle might set you on the right path.

Directions:

From the south: Take your best route to I-77 North. Take exit 82 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed less than a mile and turn right onto Messick Rd. Go to the end of Messick Rd, and turn left on Center Road. Approximately 8 miles later is a Pure Oil gas station on the left. 1.4 miles past the Pure Oil station, turn right at the first castle on the right on a gravel road (Willow Spring Way).

From Hwy 421: Proceed to intersection with I-77 North. Take exit 82 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed less than a mile and turn right onto Messick Rd. Go to the end of Messick Rd, and turn left on Center Road. From the east: From Interstate 40, take exit to Highway 421 toward Boone and Yadkinville. This road exits from I-40 on the west side of Winston Salem near the intersection of Business I-40 and Bypass I-40. Continue on 421 until the Yadkinville/Highway 601 exit. At the end of the exit ramp in Yadkinville, turn right toward Booneville. Proceed into Yadkinville, and turn left onto old Highway 421. From old 421 one turn right on Booger Swamp Road, and at the end of Booger Swamp, turn right on Center Road, and stop at the first castle on your left, at the intersection of Willow Sping Lane and Center Road. If you see the Pure Oil station, you have gone too far.
