Chalice of the Sun God VII -- Outstaring the Medusa

Medusa! The name makes even the most hardened warrior flinch. One glance; meet her eyes, look upon her head of writhing snakes and you turn to stone. Do you know the way to outstare Medusa? Or will you be turned into a stone statue of yourself for all eternity? Come and join us for a weekend of fun, fighting and food.

Martial Activities: There will be armored, rapier, youth and target archery tournaments. Competitors shall fight in a Challenger’s tourney for the right to best the current Chalice Champions in each discipline and become this year’s Chalice Champions. Questions should be directed to: Lord Gustav von Silberwald, MiC at gustavvs[AT]yahoo.com. Their Excellencies will also be choosing the Ponte Alto Archery Champion at this time. The current champions will be defending their title, but the Barony will be sending in their own champions in a brave effort to win back the Chalice for Ponte Alto. All are invited to challenge and attempt to win this honor.

A&S and Performing Competitions: There will be Chalice competitions in both performing and A&S for the title of Chalice Champions. For questions about A&S competitions contact Mistress Belphoebe de Givet (belfebe[AT]yahoo.com). For performing arts contact Mistress Anne of Carthew (anne[AT]ravenstreet.com). Performers should have 2 pieces prepared, one of which shall be in period style documented. The theme of both competitions is the legend of Perseus and the Medusa.

Site: Prince William Forest Park, Triangle, VA, Camp 5. Please take note that it’s a different camp from last year’s.

Site Restrictions: No pointed weapons. No pets. No tent camping (cabins only). No open flame. The site is WET, no original containers. Cabins have showers, bathrooms, and beds (bring your own bedding). Cars are not permitted in the cabin areas. Handicap accessible. All cabins must be vacated by 10 am Sunday morning.

Feast: A sumptuous feast shall be prepared by Lady Sophia van der Werken in the Roman style. Space is limited to 60, so get those reservations in early! Dietary concerns should be directed to the head cook at opc_lt[AT]yahoo.com.

Merchanting: Please contact the Event Steward to register for space by the list field. Note that PWFP does not permit overnight camping in tents so plan accordingly. E-mail is the best way to reach the Event Steward.

Other Information: Like in years past, there will be a team Competition for the Chalice of the Sun God. Teams must register before 11am on the day of the tourneys to compete. Teams must field a single participant in at least 4 of the 5 Chalice disciplines (Performance, Artisan, Armored, Rapier, Target Archery). Each team may include one youth armored and/or one youth rapier fighter and/or one youth archer in addition to the adult categories. Rules and team registration forms are available at our website. If you are planning on bringing a dayshade, please contact Lady Wulfwyn to reserve space.

Directions:
Take your best route to I-95 in VA. Take Exit at 150 to Route 619 West. Go approximately 4 miles and the entrance will be on your right. Follow the signs for Camp 2 and Camp 5. We will have someone directing parking.
