Feast of St Pyr

Come revel with the Canton of Azurmont in the Festival of our Patron Saint! One of St. Patrick's compatriots, St. Pyr (d. 520 A.D.) is the patron saint of Cornwall's tin mines and is sometimes referred to as the saint by accident....his love of brewed items brought on his martyrdom - he died when, after a night of revelry he fell down a well.

A&S Competitions: Metalwork (this includes metal embroidery techniques as well as the fine arts of minting, casting, embossing and blacksmithing). Documentation encouraged. Prizes to be awarded to winners.

Activities: Classes and activities throughout the day for the young and young at heart. Brewer's Competition: Two divisions, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Documentation encouraged. Prizes for winners.

Food: Side-board (buffet) style repast in the late afternoon is included in site fee. At least one vegetarian dish is served with each course. Any dietary concerns should be forwarded to Lady Carmella at Icemaiden6910@aol.com. Note: Pre-registration required for feast. Feast Is unseated, and there will only be 5 extra spaces available at the door.

Merchants: Are welcome, and will be well placed. No food or alcoholic beverage items. Contact the Event Steward.

Site: The Raab Range, 12150 Callaway Road, Callaway VA 24067. Camping available with permission of landowner. Site is primitive with port-a-castles provided.

Site Restrictions: The site is wet. Pets are welcome, but must be on a six-foot lead at all times while on the grounds. Fires in designated Areas only. Creek runs through property; no lifeguard on duty.

Directions:
From Roanoke: Take Brambleton Rd (US 221) south from town using Old Cave Spring Rd. Go about 11.5 miles and turn left onto Clover Rd (Route 602). which will turn into Callaway Rd.. ~ Go about 7 miles. The Raab Range is on the left in view of the grain silos.
