Hawkwood invites its neighbors and friends to join us for a relaxing day of Games & Gluttony!!!

Martial Activities:  Fighting: There will be both Rapier and Heavy tournaments in a simple format. Double elimination or Round Robin, depending on the number of entrants!

Arts & Sciences Activities:  -Games: We’ve got Games! Lots of Games! And feel free to bring any period games you have and would like to play or share.
-Game Themed A&S Competition: Bring any game-themed item to enter for judging. Documentation not required, but appreciated.
-Gaming Tournament: We’re going to have a gaming pentathlon. Players will play five, easy to learn, period games in random match ups. The player with the most wins takes the prize. Thegames will be: Medieval Chess, The Viking Game (Tafl), Mancala, Nine Men Morris, and Hazzard.
-Dancing: of course there will be dancing, but not just dancing; there will be a dance competition as well! ‘Kicking the Tassel’ is a silly and fun period dance competition. (Think Renaissance limbo)

Cost Notes:  All refund requests must be received IN WRITING within 7 days of the end of the event. The only true reservation is a PAID reservation! Children 5 and under are guests of our barony!

Site:  The site is Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 2312 Smoky Park Highway, Candler, N.C. 28715. Site opens Saturday, September 28 at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 8:30 p.m.

Site Restrictions:
 The site is dry. No pets allowed. Parking only in designated areas.

Feast Information:  FEAST IS AN OLD-FASHIONED POT LUCK! Hawkwood will be providing one meat for the feast and beverages. All persons staying for feast need to bring a dish sufficient to feed 6 persons, based upon the following schedule, using the first letter of your modern last name: A-E - Desserts F-K - Meat; Protein L-M - Salads; Casseroles N-O - Veggies P-S - Potatoes; Pasta; Rice T-Z - Cheese and Bread; Pickles

Merchanting Information:  Blanket merchanting welcome! No tables or chairs will be available for merchant use, per site policy.

Directions:  

From the East: Take your best route to I-40, Exit 44 (Enka-Candler exit), west of Asheville. Take exit 44 (19-23) and turn right at the off ramp light towards McDonalds. Go approximately six miles. Church will be on the left, up on a hill, after you pass The Hot Dog King (which is on the right).

From the West: Take your best route to I-40, Exit 37 (East Canton exit), east of Canton. Take exit 37, and turn South onto Wiggins Road (away from the TA Travel Center truck stop). At the next intersection, turn left onto US 19-23 (away from the convenience store on the corner), heading east approximately 0.8 mile. Church will be on your right, up on a hill.
