Revenge of the Stitch

A long time ago, in a shire far, far away....there was a mighty battle fought with steel, thread, and song. Blows were thrown, stitches were sewn, and songs were sung. Now the battle returns! What historical garb can teams create in 24 hours? Who will prevail with sword and shield? (hint: we have folks from EK and Atlantia to be in attendance...)What melodies and tales will win the judges hearts? Come find out at Sword, Stitch and Song! We will also have a Silent Auction (benefit of the Shire) and Merchants so bring your wallets!

Martial Activities:
Yes, there will be martial activities. We will have scenarios planned for the day (by a Knight visiting from another part of Atlantia??). There may even be a Woods Battle....check the Facebook page for developments. We plan to have archery and possibly thrown weapons. for questions, please ask the Event Steward or the Marshal in Charge (newhunter[AT]earthlink.net)

Arts & Sciences Activities: THE MAIN EVENT: GARB CONSTRUCTION1 Teams of up to 6 people will have from Friday, 5 pm to Saturday 5 pm to construct a complete outfit. A seventh person can serve as a model only. Judges shall monitor activity throughout the competition and will use their observations plus a review of the outfits to determine the winner. The hall limits the competition to the first 8 teams to register. Top teams will receive prize baskets - the Facebook page may contain hints on what is in them... Bardic Competition: Lord Richard Wyn will run a bardic competition: 2 songs about swords or stitches (garb) documented to be in period (pre 1650). For inquiries, please contact Richard Muti.

Cost Notes: No family group (parents/guardians and minor children) will pay more than $40 - (non-member surcharge and feast exempted)

Site: Caroline County 4-H Park, 8314 Detour Road, Denton,MD. Site opens 4 PM Friday and closes noon Sunday. Folks there after 10:30 or so on Sunday may be considered for clean-up crew.

Site Restrictions: No Fire pis - fire bowls only. Ashes must br cold and disposed of safely. Service animals only. No original containers please.

Feast Information: There will be a Feast to follow the judging and FolkMoot on Saturday. The feast will feature medieval German recipes. There are 80 seats available for the feast, which must be preregistered by April 22. Please contact Meleri (Mel Walker at melanie.walker[AT]accomack.k12.va.us with any food allergies/concerns. Any stand-by seats will be available at Troll. 

Merchanting Information: Merchants are welcome! Please contact the Event Steward for merchanting information.

Other Information: Children\'s activities: A scavenger hunt and other activities will be held throughout the day on Saturday. There will be a static A&S display.

Directions:

The site is in Denton, MD. The best route from the west is to cross the Bay Bridge and continue on US Rt 50East (about 7 miles) to MD 404 and turn left at the traffic light. MD 404 is also called Shore Highway. Follow 404 about 17 miles until you reach Harmony Rd. **Harmony Rd. is also Rt. 16. The highway sign for Harmony Road has a different road name on it. Turn right on Harmony Rd. / Rt 16. Go to Detour Rd. about 1.5 miles and turn left. The 4-H park is well marked and on the right. 

From North or South: Take US 13 to Rt. 404 (intersection near Bridgeville DE) and turn west. Follow the directions above.
