Once again the chill winds of winter are blowing through the mountains and valleys of Black Diamond and thoughts turn to friends, family, and times gone past.  Join us once again for day full of revelry and warmth of company and fighting.  As a special note

Martial Activities:  Armored and rapier tourneys will be held with an emphasis on fun, honor, and melee\'s.  There will also be an Archery competition for those wanting to loose flights of arrows. Arts & Sciences Activities:  The Barony of Black Diamond will also be sponsoring several A&S classes throughout the day, if you have a specific topic you would like to teach at this event please contact: Appollonia Francesca DiCapua, she can be contacted at moas[AT]black-diamond.atlantia.sca.org

There will be several A&S competitions with specific themes to be provided at a later date. Ice Castle is proud to announce that there will be dancing through out the day as well!

The Poeta Atlantiae is sponsoring a poetry competition for Ice Castle on January 26th.  Poems are to be written in honor of \"Winter\" and all the lovely (or nasty) conditions that come with it (you chose whether you like it or not).  Be nice, remember we want good weather!  Your poem should be written in a medieval style.  Documentation is requested but not required, except for required brief verbal documentation at performance.  Yes!  poems are to be performed at a place and time determined by the Event Steward.  Performance does not need to be memorized.  Documentation and performance earn extra points.

There will be a separate competition for children 12 and under.  Documentation and performance are not required for children\'s poems.

Site Restrictions:  Dry Site, No Pets, No open flames. Smoking is not allowed in the building itself.

Merchanting Information:  Merchants are absolutely welcome, if you would like to merchant at Ice Castle please contact the Event Steward with your information and approximately how much space you might need.

From the North: Take your best route to I-81 South. Take the US-11/US-460 exit, exit 118C-B-A, toward Christiansburg/Blacksburg. Merge onto US-460 W via exit 118-B toward Blacksburg. Drive 17.8 miles. Turn right onto Blue Grass Trail/VA-42. (Blue Grass Trail is 0.2 miles past Forest Ridge Drive.) Drive 0.8 miles. 434 Blue Grass Trail is on the right. If you reach Clover Hollow Road you\'ve gone about 0.1 miles too far.
