Storvik Novice and Unbelt Tourney
(2013-06-28 - 2013-06-30 - Site opens at 10 AM & Closes at 12 PM)
Storvik

In defiance of the storm that came from the Midrealm last year, the Barony of Storvik invites all novice combatants and artisans to come test their mettle against their peers in the Annual Storvik Novice and Unbelt Tournament.

Martial Activities:  There will be three armoured tournaments: Novice Tournament (all fighters who are less than 1 year from their first rattan combat authorization); Unbelt Tournament (all fighters who are not peers by right of arms may enter); and a Tournament of Chivalry. There will also be rapier competitions throughout the day, including a novice Tournament (all fighters who are less than 1 year from their first rapier combat authorization may enter.

There will also be Youth Combat and Rapier Tournaments.

Arts & Sciences Activities:
There will be three A&S activities going on.

The first two are competitions. There will be an open novice competition for any art or science the entrant has worked on for less than a year. Pages of documentation are not necessary, but judges will appreciate some information regarding place, time period, and purpose.

Religious and spiritual practices had a huge influence on the way people lived, both in the every day components of religious practice and in the foods and decorations that surrounded holidays. Items like the illuminated pages of a book of hours, the light of a jack o lantern, and both fasting and feast foods were important parts of life throughout SCA period. This is an opportunity to study one of the more often overlooked aspects of life in the SCA period. Entries should include a short explanation of how the item is related to / used in any of the myriad religions that existed in period. Anyone may enter, and there will be both overall and novice winners.

Finally, if you haven\'t found an art or science to latch onto yet, you\'re in luck! Come to the Artisan\'s Row, and you may find a craft you enjoy.
