Yule Toy Tourney
(2016-12-09 - 2016-12-11 - Site opens at 5:00 PM & Closes at 11:00 AM)
Nottinghill Coill

The Barony of Nottinghill Coill invites you to join us in celebrating Yule Toy Tourney 2016 in the fashion of the Ancient Romans. Saturnalia was the winter celebration of Saturn, the god of the sun and harvest season and a time of peace. In the spirit of the Season, we are proud to be sponsoring Country Santa again this year by gathering toys for the children and families of our Barony. The toys will be given out to children by the Country Santa organization to help make the Yule season joyous for everyone! Check out countrysanta.org for more information about this worthy cause! The cabins are 6 person cabins, with individual bunks and 2 inch thick mattresses. Electricity is available in each cabin, and the heaters work VERY well. Cabins are 6 person cabins, with beds and with very efficient heaters. Windows all have blinds on them The event cost is one new, unwrapped toy per person!

Martial Activities: Armored fighting Will be the usual fun with 4 maybe 5 weapon discipline specific tourneys and a final tourney with champions of the 4 disciplines (WS, DW, PW, GW). Spear will be a separate tourney if enough interested and time permits. The tourneys will be round robin unless more than 6 contestants, then it will be a single elimination tourney best 2 of 3. As traditional bring a toy for any discipline you wish to enter. Rapier fighting will consist of a standard Round Robin Tourney, a C&T Tourney, a Blacksword Tourney, and in honor of Saturnalia - a Gladius tourney (single weapon, blade must be 30\" or less).

Archery will also be available.

Arts & Sciences Activities: There will be a Roman themed A&S competition sponsored by our Baronial Artisan. To enter please donate a toy. Prize will be a Gladius. Documentation required. Only stipulation is that the item entered must be of a Roman nature during any of the times of their expansion.

Additional A&S for Yule Toy Tourney will be open display with the usual entry fee of a new unopened toy. Any SCA-appropriate entry is very welcome. While we won\'t be judging entries, any holder of an A&S award or order on any level is strongly encouraged to comment. Don\'t have an A&S award? We want your commentary, too. Let\'s make sure that entrants know their work is appreciated!
