Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, & Thyme are just a very few of the wide range of herbs used in period. Cooking, Curing Ills, & Coloring Fabrics, just a few of their uses. Join us at Elchenburg Castle for a weekend of exploring, learning, teaching, and sharing! Stroll through a medieval agricultural village, see live animals and learn about their purpose. Come learn about various agricultural topics such as the history of sheep, beekeeping, fishing, medieval kitchen gardens and herbs, and more! Arts & Sciences Activities: Classes, and round table talks will fill the day. Bring your favorite herb books to share at the herb library. Come see agricultural displays.

Cost Notes: Admission to the event is free and the site is open for camping for the weekend. Donations will be gladly accepted to help pay for site fees.
Site: Elchenburg Castle 1 Elchenburg Castle Place, Boonville, NC, 27011. Site opens Friday 5pm, closes Sunday 11am.
Site Restrictions: No smoking allowed in any buildings on site. Pets must be a leash. Fires must be supervised at all times. Any holes dug must be filled prior to leaving site. Other Information: We will be having an informal cooking competition. Recipes should be in keeping with period practices, documentation not needed. Most ingredients will be supplied, dishes made on site, and then presented for lunch. The populace will then vote with tokens for their favorite sweet and savory items. A table of fresh ingredients commonly available in period will be used, those participating will be able to bring one item of their choosing, as well as a spice box.
The Rave N will be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with an assortment of items for your nibbling pleasure. It is a concession stand of sorts. Profits will benefit the Sacred Stone Baronial Fund.

From the north, south or west:
Take your best route to I-77’s exit 82 which is in Jonesville, North Carolina. Take exit 82 and turn east at the end of the exit ramp. (Turn left if coming from the north, turn right if coming from the south.) Proceed 0.4 miles past the roundabout and, at the top of the first hill, turn right onto Messick Rd. Go to the end of Messick Rd, (1.7 miles) and turn left on Center Road. Follow Center Road for 5.8 miles to reach Elchenburg Castle Farm on your right. Proceed to gate, troll in and enjoy your adventure!
From the east:
Take Highway 421 toward Boone and Yadkinville. (This road exits from I-40 on the west side of Winston-Salem near the intersection of Business I-40 and Bypass I-40.) Continue on 421 past the Yadkinville/Highway 601 exit, to the Reavis Road exit. At the end of the Reavis Road exit ramp turn right and take Reavis Road 0.9 miles to its end. Turn right onto “Old US 421 Hwy W†and proceed 0.6 miles to the first intersection, which is Center Road (on your left). Turn onto Center Road and travel 3.0 miles to reach Elchenburg Castle Farm on your left. Proceed to gate, troll in and enjoy your adventure!
