Ice Castles and Black Diamond Baronial Investiture

Come celebrate the investiture of our new Baron and Baroness. We will be hosting three on three melees for both the heavy and rapier lists. There will also be competitions for bread baking and the creation of warm garb. There will be youth combat, marshal dependent. Arts & Sciences Activities: There will be two Arts and Sciences competitions: Bring out your Bread: Do you have a period bread recipe? Have you developed a recipe using spelt, aramanth, or acorn flour? Then bring your documentation and at least three loaves. There will be prizes for best documentation and best in show. Warm Things: Knitted period mittens? Created warm pants, cloak, dress, other outerwear? Bring them and your documentation. Prizes for best documentation and best in show. Cost Notes: Children under 5 years old are guests of the Barony. Children between ages 6 and 14 pay the child rate.

Site Restrictions: The site is DRY! No kidding! No fooling! There is no smoking in any of the facilities or entryways. No pets. Please let the Event Steward know as soon as possible if you require a service animal.

Merchanting space is limited and will be first come first served, based upon your pre-registration. If you are interested in merchating at this event, please be advised that if you require tables there is a $5/per table fee. So please bring your own. Please include your merchanting information with your pre-registration and included the amount of space you require and if you will need tables supplied.

Directions:
Heading South on I-81: Take exit 162 (Buchanan). Turn left onto Route 11 toward Troutville. Go 3.2 miles to Route 606 (Blue Ridge Turnpike). Mill Creek Garage will be on the left. Turn left onto Route 606, Blue Ridge Turnpike. Go 1.6 miles to stop sign. Turn right onto Nace Rd and go less than 1/10th of a mile to bridge on left. Turn left onto bridge at Bethel Rd. Drive under rail-road trestle. Entrance to Camp Bethel is 0.3 of a mile straight ahead.

Heading North on I-81: Take Exit 156. At end of ramp turn right onto Route 640, Brugh’s Mill Rd, and go 0.2 mile to stop sign at Route 11. Turn left onto Route 11. Go approx 2 miles. Mill Creek Baptist Church will be on your left. Just across from the church turn right onto Route 606, Blue Ridge Turnpike. Go 1.6 miles to stop sign. Turn right onto Nace Rd and go 1/10th of a mile to bridge on left. Turn left onto bridge at Bethel Rd. Drive under rail-road trestle. Entrance to Camp Bethel is 0.3 mile straight ahead
