InterBaronial TwelfthNight
(2007-01-06 - Site opens at 11:00 AM & Closes at 12:00 PM)
Marinus
The Barony of Marinus has the honour this year of hosting the Tir-Y-Don/Marinus InterBaronial 12th Night, to be held at The Planter's Club, 4600 Planters Club Drive, Suffolk, Va (23435) on January 6, 2007. The site opens at 10:30 and closes at 11:00pm. It is a wet site.
The theme of the event is "Venice, any time, always beautiful". Participants are encouraged to come garbed in clothing that might have been seen in Venice or its environs in any time period of the SCA's study. Expect a glittering array of friends enjoying each other's company! The activities planned are:
An Artisan's Row: Participants who are willing to show and spend time talking about their particular art or science form will be given a table, chairs, and gifts in appreciation. Group displays are encouraged so people can have time to visit other artist's tables and friends. There will be a small framed notice on each table so the artist can leave word as to when they will be available to talk about (or demonstrate) their art form, as well as a bound book for visitors to leave comments and contact information. Any level of expertise is encouraged - it is your enthusiasm and your joy that we wish to share. Please contact the Event Steward in advance so she can ensure that your display will have enough space.
Gaming Tourney: If you'd like to spend part of the day pitting your wits and skills against others over a game board or cards, bring your own games and you will be give a set number of tokens at the door. Simply look for others who are displaying their tokens. Invitations to play and the rules of the games are left to the mutual honour of the participants so long as the winner of any game is gifted with one token by the loser of that game. At the end of the day, a prize will be given to the participant who has won the greatest number of tokens.
Dancing will be featured in the main area of the Hall after the feast. Lady Alyna of the Ilex will be organising the dance list and Baron Otto von Schwartzkatz coordinating the musician's play list. There will be plenty of space for those who do not wish to dance to sit, chat, and enjoy the music and the beauty of this lovely art form.
There will be a 'standard' A&S competition for the honour of becoming the Barony of Tir-Y-Don's Arts and Sciences Champion. Please contact Their Excellencies of Tir-Y-Don or their Minister of Arts and Sciences for information about their criteria. Their Excellencies of Marinus will also be choosing their Arts and Sciences Champion at this event based on the wonderful things they see and hear at the Artisan's Row.
Lady Alexandra Shipman is our Cook and is preparing a very sumptuous feast. She can be reached via email at Lady Alexandra Shipman or by phone at (757) 673-3877. Seating for the feast is limited to 80 but there will be plenty of off-board tables. A seating chart will be available onsite.
