Return of the Merchants of Venice / Bright Hills 21st Birthday
(2007-05-12 - Site opens at 10:00 AM & Closes at 10:00 PM)
Bright Hills

It is 1292 and Marco Polo has returned to Venice with all manner of unusual and interesting goods and stories from far Cathay. Other merchants have also come from all points of the compass, bringing strange and wondrous goods from the far ends of the world. People from all races and cultures come to Venice to trade, to learn, to partake of the varied culture available in Venice – melting pot of the medieval world.

Thus does Bright Hills invite one and all to join us in sunny Venice (located in the Manchester Volunteer Fireman’s Activity Bldg, Manchester, MD) to help Bright Hills celebrate its 21st birthday as an SCA group. We’ll have all manner of fun waiting for you as we gear up to show off 21 years of Bright Hill’s history. There will be displays of “The Old Days” (even a few pictures some of us still groan at). There will be all manner of A & S activities, displays and competitions. For our martially inclined we’ll have assorted tourneys – a Baron’s Challenge for the Heavy fighters, mad cap fencing through the streets /canals of Venice for our Rapier folks and an Advancing Baronage shoot, as well as other interesting competitions for the Archers. Listen for the sound of thundering hooves as the Atlantian Cavalry and friends vie for honors on the jousting field. There will be a Quest covering Bright Hills history for old and young alike and a variety of children’s activities.
Since Venice was a major center for trade and exchange of all sorts of exotic goods we encourage our SCA merchants to bring their wares to tempt us with. Help us fill our gondolas with rare spices and fine fabrics, shining weapons and sturdy leather goods. There is room aplenty both indoors or outside for our merchant friends.
Merchant coordinator is Lady Roana de Laci (Lynn Hunter). She can be reached at 410-519-7229 (NLT 9:00pm) or via e-mail at ladyro@comcast.net
