Dun Carraig
The Barony of Dun Carraig invites the gentle folk of the Knowne World to a Grand Tourney. Come and join us in a celebration of great fighting prowess, of colorful heraldry, of delights of the senses and of the palate. Please make a place on your personal calendar to come to Dun Carraig in June. We promise an exhibition of feats of arms for which the Kingdom of Atlantia is so well known. There will be an Armoured tournament for teams of three to honor Love and Glory. Each team will choose which side they fight for. Teams fighting for love must be sponsored by a Lady. The first ten teams to register for each side will receive banners hand drawn by Syr Richard de Montbrai and painted by the artisans of Dun Carraig. Ladies, bring your tokens and join us in the ladies' gallery for the day to encourage and reward our noble fighters! A prize will be awarded to the highest scoring team for each side, as well as for Best Presence. We encourage other baronies to sponsor fighting teams. The highest scoring baronial team will have a streamer in their baronial colors added to a Challenge Banner of Honor to be maintained by Dun Carraig, with new streamers added each year to commemorate the victors. The team will also receive a streamer they can take home to be flown with their own banners.
The schedule of the day also includes Rapier and Archery tournaments. For the Arts and Science enthusiasts we shall celebrate Love with competitions for Best Love Poetry and for Best Favors & Tokens; and Glory with competitions for Best Arms or Armour and with Best Tales of Heroism. This will all be followed by a fabulous feast prepared by Lord Khadir bar Yosef (the cook formerly known as Muirghen Rhuadh) that will no doubt surpass Dun Carraig's reputation for good food. A Below-the-Salt Feast will also be available, prepared by Lord Matthew of Summerdale. The site fee includes a dayboard available to all attending. Because of this, we request that even those who plan only to day trip also pre-register to ensure adequate food and drink are purchased for all attendees. The Barony will be sponsoring a fund-raiser breakfast on Sunday morning.
