Black Diamond
It is time once again to journey north to Ice Castles. Come join the Barony of Black Diamond once again as we celebrate the tradition of midwinter martial competition and marvel at the glorious riches created by the artisans of our fair Kingdom.
Martial Activities: Heavy combat will return to the traditional 3-man tourney. Rapier will be a grand melee with details found on the web site. In addition to these, the Order of the Sable Blade will host a novice tourney for both rapier and heavy. Requirements can be found on the event web site.
Arts & Sciences Activities: There will be 3 competitions: Best use of a castle theme, illumination based on a winter theme, and a novice open (2 years or less in entered craft)competition sponsored by the Order of the Silver Crocus. Patrons of the arts (members of any arts order) are invited to bring tokens and comment cards to meet with the artisans and provide encouragement. An artisan’s row will be available as well as display space for noncompetition A&S. Performers are encouraged to come and entertain throughout the day with song, music, story and dance. Site Restrictions: No alcohol permitted on site, no fires, and no pets allowed indoors.
Feast: A magnificent feast will be prepared by HRM Logan Ebonwoulfe for a maximum of 125 gentles. Feast is expected to sell out. Submit dietary concerns to logan@ebonwoulfe.com
Merchants: Merchants are welcome and no merchant fee is required. We do ask that merchants register so we can allot necessary space. Contact us at icecastles2008@yahoo.com for registering and questions.
Other Information: A competition will be sponsored by Asszony Bessenyei Rozsa for the best heraldic field display around the list field (indoors or outdoors depending on weather). Rozsa and her panel of judges will be looking at everything from armorial flags to heraldic garb and fighting surcoats. The prize will be an appliquéd Spike flag to add to your kit and show your love for your Kingdom.
