As people ventured into the East for the purposes of trade and discovering wonders, tales of exotic creatures stirred the interests of merchants and hunters alike. Discovering the mysteries of the East, which led to the further discoveries of great treasures and even more mystical tales? Within the woodlands of Hawkwood these tales will be brought to life. Join us as we face the mysteries of adventure and discover what lies within the mists of the unknown. The Barony of Hawkwood is proud to present its 4th Birthday and the 30th anniversary of Hawkwood itself. Champions, Heroes and Artisans abound! Tournaments for the Heavy, Rapier, and Archer will fill your day. Artisans will test their mettle in many categories, while the aromas of a sumptuous feast will whet your palate for the delights to come.

Marsha l Activities: There will be martial activities for the three primary disciplines. At least two and possibly three tourneys in each of the disciplines; come prepared for anything.

A&S Activities: (1) An A&S Champion’s competition will be designed by the current A&S Champion and the Coronets. (2) The best representation of a Hawk in any medium, documentation is not required but is recommended. (3) The use of wood in any medium, decorative, functional, etc. Documentation is not required but is recommended. (4) Any medium with an oriental theme. Documentation is required.

Children under 6 are guests of the Barony. Feast is sold by the seat and not by age. Cabins are priced per night per person. Please specify your preference in your reservation. Merchants are welcome.
Site: Lutheridge Conference Center, 28 Spruce Drive, Arden, NC 28704. (828) 684-2361. Site opens Friday (April 25) at 5 pm and closes Sunday (April 27) at 11 am.
Site Restrictions: The site is wet and no pets are allowed (service animals are an exception). Parking is only in designated areas. Tenting and heated cabins are available.

Reservations: Lady Marryyn Blackgroves, Mindi Bishop 168 Martha Drive Spruce Pine, NC 28777. For any questions contact the Event Steward. The only true reservation is a paid one. Include email address for conformation. Reservations should be received no later than April 22, 2008. That is received, not post-marked!

Feast: A sumptuous feast will be prepared by the Head Cook and staff. A mix of the cultures of the East and the West will tantalize your palate and satiate your appetite. For any dietary concerns contact the reservationist or the Event Steward.


Directions:
Find your best route to I-26, exit 40, Airport Road exit. Coming from the north/west, turn left at the ramp onto Airport Road. Coming from the south/east, turn right at ramp onto Airport Road. Follow Airport Road until it junctions with Hendersonville Road (Hwy. 25). Turn right onto Hendersonville Road. Travel approximately 3/10 of a mile and the entrance is on the right. Signs should be posted.
