Birthday of the Black Prince

The year is 1359, the site is England. In celebration of Edward, the Prince of Wales` upcoming birthday a day of tournament, feast and revelry has been declared. The Barony of Black Diamond calls forth the most Noble of combatants, to bring their weapons of choice, their skill and prowess to this most Honorable field. Heralds declare that this is a day for all Atlantia, to celebrate one of the most historical men in history, and quite possibly of the 14th century. It is a day filled with tournament of martial skills, of Heavy weapons, of Rapier, of Archery. It is a day for the artisans to come forth and bring their finest projects for display and competition. It is a day for the novice, of both the arts and sciences and the martial fields, for you are the future of fair Atlantia, and we celebrate your growing skills as well.

Martial Activities: There will be tournaments for heavy, rapier and target archery throughout the day as well as mounted games. Friday evening will play host to a torchlight tournament for both heavy and rapier. MIC for the event is Baron Achbar ibn Ali.

Arts & Sciences Activities: There will be several A&S competitions hosted throughout the day. They will include but are not limited to: novice A&S, best illumination, best heraldic display, open A&S display, fiber arts, and bardic.

Cost Notes: Reservations received before 4/30/06 will receive a $3.00 discount on all costs with the exception of the children’s cost.

Site: Bland County Fairgrounds located in Bland, VA 24315

Site Restrictions: Pets must be on a leash. Alcohol permitted in period containers only.

Merchants: Merchants are welcome but please contact the Event Steward prior with tent size. There is no merchant fee but space is limited.

Other Information: There will also be several raffles held through the day.

Directions:
From the South: Take I-77 north into VA. Once into VA follow I-77 through Wytheville. I-77 and I-81 will come together for about 10 miles. Take the I-77 turnoff towards Bluefield/Charleston WV. Exit off I 77 at exit 52. Turn right and follow SCA signs.

From points north in VA. Follow I-81 south to I-77 north and exit off I-77 at exit 52. Turn right and follow SCA signs.
