An event for local newcomers and families.\"Ever wanted to experience all the fun of the Middle Ages, but with air conditioning, indoor plumbing, and a distinct lack of plague? Come join the Society for Creative Anachronism\'s Barony of Caer Mear in celebrating Midsummer medieval style! We\'ll have tons of activities to see and try - all from before the 17th century!\"
Gold Key loaner garb will be available.

Martial Activities: Armored and Rapier fighting demos
Arts & Sciences Activities: *Arts and Sciences demos - current planned demos include:
-Garb display with Baroness Eadyth Woderose (Rebecca May)
-Kumihimo with Mistress Aelfwynn Gyrthesdohtor (Cyn McDonald)
-Calligraphy and illumination with Lady Isabel Henry (Sharon Henry Miller)
-Missile weapons (knives, axes, bows, atlatls) with Lady Rose Aileen Robertson (Anne Roberts)
-We are also planning a Block Printing table and a Jewelry-Making table to try!

*Dancing and Music taught by Lady Jeane Kilmeny (Dominica Campbell)
*\"Take-Some-Garb, Leave-Some-Garb\" Free Garb Swap hosted by Niese Keppel (Denise Meredith)
*Classes on introductory topics - planned class topics include: -Music and dance with Lady Jeane Kilmeny (Dominica Campbell) -Drop spinning with Baroness Magda z Stalburg (Maggie Allen-Pruett) -Kumihimo (Japanese cord-making) with Mistress Aelfwynn Gyrthesdohtor (Cyn McDonald) -SCA Events 101 (instructor TBD)
*Lady Bronwen McFinlay Memorial Bead Competition sponsored by Baroness Magda z Stalburg (Maggie Allen-Pruett: Attendees new and practiced, young and old are invited to participate in this competition for historical beadwork. Participants will be grouped into categories: Kids, Adults, Novice, and Experienced. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category. Directions:
From North of Richmond: Take I-95 South to the Boulevard Exit (Exit 78). At the bottom of the offramp, make a left onto 161 North. At the next light, make a long right onto Westwood. Once on Westwood, go 1/2 mile to the next light, which is Brook Road. Make a left onto Brook Road. At the second light, you will see the Church across the street to the right.
From East of Richmond: Take I-64 West to I-95 North. The very next exit ramp (less than 1/4 mile after merging onto I-95) is Chamberlain Avenue (Exit 76A). Follow the directions from the South below.
From South of Richmond: Take I-95 North to exit 76A (Chamberlain Avenue). Stay in the center lane on the exit. The road will fork, fork Left onto Brook Road. Follow Brook Road 2.9 miles to Bellvue Road. You will see the Church across the street to your right.
From West of Richmond: Take I-64 East to exit 186 (Laburnum Avenue to Powhite Parkway). Stay to the right and take the Laburnum Ave exit. Follow Laburnum Avenue East. At the fourth stoplight, make a Left onto Brook. The next stoplight is Bellvue. You will see the Church across the street to the right.
