War of the Wings I

The epic struggle between the Phoenix and the Kittyhawk, of fire and wind, will take place in the rolling hills of Elchenburg. Come witness and participate in the glorious battles. Enjoy tales, songs, dancing and good company. There will be castle battles, woods battles, grand melees and torchlight tournaments for both heavy and rapier. Target archery, thrown weapons, cavalry, youth combat -- all will earn points to decide the outcome of the war.

Arts & Sciences Activities: A&S will include challenges for 4 War Points, with 15 different competition categories, including live performance, period encampments, and many more.

Adult, Member: $10.00 Day-Trip or Camping
Adult, Non-Member: $13.00 Day-Trip or Camping
Child (6-17): $ 5.00 Day-Trip or Camping
Child (0-5): $ 0.00 Day-Trip or Camping
Cost Notes:Only $10 per adult (camping or day trip), and $5 for children 5 to 17 years of age -- provided you register before September 3rd, 2006! Please see website for reservation information!

Site: Elchenburg Castle, 2239 Center Road, Booneville, NC 27011, Site Restrictions: This is a wet site and pet friendly (lease and/or cages please). It is a camping only but with a bathhouse (hot water, clean showers, and flushing toilets). We will have single, modern, and period camping. In addition, we will have an extensive area set aside for group encampments.

Feast: No feast will be provided.

Directions:
West & I-77: Take your best route to I-77 (North from Charlotte) to Exit 82. At the end of the ramp, if you're coming North, turn Right on Highway 67; if you're coming South, turn Left onto Hwy 67. Less then a half mile on turn right on Messick Road. Proceed to the end of Messick road, and turn left onto Center Road. About 6 miles on, you will pass a Pure Gas station on the left. About 1.2 miles past the station is a church on the Left and a cemetery on the right. Just past this, on the Right, turn onto Willow Spring Ln. The castle is 200 yards back.
Winston-Salem & East: Travel By-Pass or Business 40 West to Exit 188, 421 North to Yadkinville. (the Right fork) Travel 421 North to Exit 259, Reavis Road. Turn Right and travel .8 of a mile. Turn Right at Stop sign. Travel .5 of a mile to Center Road. Turn Left onto Center Road. Travel 3 miles to Willow Spring. Turn Left onto Willow Spring. (Approximately 35 minutes from W-S).
