Another year has passed and once again it’s time to celebrate the birthday of the Barony of Dun Carraig. Get your pillage on because we’re going Viking this year in honor of our new Baron and Baroness, the dread Erwin Bloodaxe and the fair Mary Isabel of Heatherstone.
Martial Activities: We will be choosing our new Baronial Champions with many tournaments of skill. There will also be a Vikings Vs. Villagers melee complete with beach landing. Will the villagers fend off the invading hordes? Or will the Vikings loot, pillage, and burn yet another village. Pick a side and find out for yourselves.
Arts & Sciences Activities: An Arts and Sciences competition for any and all who want to show off what they have accomplished. Check out the baronial web page for specific contest information.

Birthday will be at the Izaak Walton League again this year, a lovely site with plenty of space indoors and out. The site is wet, and candles are allowed on tables. A fire will also be allowed in a designated area. Site Restrictions: The Izaak Walton League does not allow pets on site. Due to hunting season, gentles are also asked to stay out of the woods and surrounding area. Feast: A scrumptious Viking feast will be prepared by Lord Matthew of Summerdale. Menu details are forthcoming on the baronial webpage. (No lutefisk, we promise!) Contact him at cook@birthday.duncarraig.net with any dietary concerns. Merchants: Merchants are invited to sell of their ill-gotten...err...that is, properly salvaged treasures. There is no additional fee for merchants. We even have tables available so you don't have to bring your own. Tables are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis; simply include with your pre-registration a note that you are merchanting and would like to reserve a table. Other Information: Have wee ones? Fear not for there will be a children’s corner as well as various children’s activities covering “A day in the life of a Viking child”. Bring them over and they will learn what life would have been like growing up as a Viking. A Viking wire knitting class will be taught by Lord Cathal McLean. From the Baltimore Area: Take your best route to Rt 301 South. Just before the town of Waldorf, make a left turn onto Maryland Rt. 5 South. Go 2.7 miles to Poplar Hill Road. Turn left on Poplar Hill Road and continue 1.3 miles to Gardiner Road. Turn right on Gardiner Road and go 1.3 miles to the Izaak Walton League property. Gardiner Road will become a gravel road as you near the property. Gardiner Road will end at the site parking lot.
From the Virginia Area and Points South: Take your best route to 301 North across the Potomac River. You will drive through the town of Waldorf. Just after leaving Waldorf, turn right onto Mattawoman-Beantown Road. Then, make a right onto rt. 5 South. Go 2.7 miles to Poplar Hill Road. Turn left on Poplar Hill Road and continue 1.3 miles to Gardiner Road. Turn right on Gardiner Road and go 1.3 miles to the Izaak Walton League property. Gardiner Road will become a gravel road as you near the property. Gardiner Road will end at the site parking lot.
From the Southern Maryland Area: Take your best route to Rt 5 North. You will drive through Hughesville. A little before Waldorf, turn right onto Mattawoman-Beantown Road. Go to the next light, which is Poplar Hill Road. Turn right on Poplar Hill Road and continue 1.3 miles to Gardiner Road.
