Come be a part of the Battle of Stamford Bridge…be you Viking or not, you can be a part of this great battle.

Martial Activities:  Armored, Rapier, and Archery/Thrown Weapons. Authorizations and Inspections to be held from 0900-1000 for both Armored and Rapier. Followed by a Holmgang style tourney. For Armored combatants each round of the tourney will be a “best of 3” utilizing Sword/shield in first round, Axe/Shield in second round, and Spear(small non-thrown javelin)/shield in the third round. For Rapier combatants each round will also be a “best of 3” utilizing Weapon/buckler in first round, weapon/dagger in second round, and case of weapons in third round. Both Armored and Rapier tourneys will be single round elimination. Following the Holmgang, The Battle of Stamford Bridge shall be seen once again…. Starting with the “Viking” side of the battle choosing one champion to hold the bridge while the remainder cross the field in support.
 For Archery and Thrown Weapons, At the end of the day, the final “Martial Activity” will be a Longboat Shot contest…..to simulate the firing of an arrow to the longboat of a fallen warrior. Each participant shall fire a single arrow towards the longboat. The closest to the center of the longboat wins this contest.

Arts & Sciences Activities:  Any project with a Viking theme, or based on the Battle of Stamford Bridge is welcome.  Documentation encouraged, but not required.

Site:  Cypress Creek Community Center, 403 Back Swamp Rd, Richlands, NC 28574.  Site opens Saturday 10am, closes Sunday 11am.

Site Restrictions:  Pets permitted only on a leash. Fires allowed only in designated areas and in fire pits. Alcohol is permitted for those over the age of 21. No original containers. Take your empties and trash home with you.

Feast Information:  A feast fit for warriors in Valhalla will be prepared by Lady Rowan Whitewolf. Any one with food allergy questions should contact the feast-o-crat at ladyrowansgarden[AT]yahoo.com  Feast is limited to 50 seats

Take your best route to I-40 Exit 385, NC-41 turn East on to NC-41, 6.1 miles turn Right onto Deep Bottom RD. go 6.2 miles Continue onto Lightbridge RD go 4.6 miles. Slight Left turn on to Backswamp RD site will be on the left in 1.3 miles.
