Feast of Saint Andrew
(2012-12-15 - Site opens at 10 AM & Closes at 10 PM)
Tear-Sea's Shore

The Canton of Tear-Sea\'s Shore may lie in the Lowcountry, but, as winter nears, its heart turns towards the Highlands.  Once again, we invite to you to “Go Gael!” and join us at the Feast of Saint Andrew on the weekend before the winter solstice.   The site, the Colleton Saddle Club in Walterboro, South Carolina, opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. on Saturday, 15 December.

Martial Activities:
All of our traditional competitions and festivities are planned, including the return of the Celtic Cattle Raid (rumours have it that the wild Hieland men of Atlantia are also out for sheep this year!).  In addition to the traditional great weapon tourney, for heavy fighters there will be a points tourney in which there will be bonus points for use of a mass or great weapon and/or a Scots-style round shield.  Rapier fighters will also take the field in a rapier and buckler tourney.  (Bucklers are not to exceed 18 inches in diameter and fighters are encouraged to bring their own bucklers although there may be a couple of loaner bucklers available).  For details on heavy and rapier rules please contact Lord Alleyne Blackburn (marshal[AT]tearseasshore.atlantia.sca.org) .

Arts & Sciences Activities:
Arts and Sciences competitions currently planned include best Scots appearance on the heavy or rapier field, best Scots accessory, best Celtic-style award scroll in any medium, best representation of Saint Andrew in the style of any of the lands of which he is patron saint, etc.  (For detailed rules, contact the Event Steward.)  And in the true Scots tradition, there will be several. . . rhetorical, that’s right, rhetorical, competitions which should require considerably less preparation. . .  If interest warrants, there will also be instruction in medieval and Scottish dance and Celtic crafts.
