(2010-01-16 - Site opens at 10:00 AM & Closes at 10:00 PM)
Lochmere
As the harsh winds of winter descend on us from the north, we will not shrink in the face of the bitter cold! In the spirit of the hearty Slavic peoples, we throw open the doors to our great hall and invite you to share the warmth of Lochmere’s hospitality at a celebration of the arts and sciences at our Midwinter’s Revel on January 16, 2010 at St. James Parish in Lothian, Maryland. There will be feasting, arts and science activities, and much rejoicing as the site is wet. Arts & Sciences Activities & Games: Baronial Arts & Sciences (A&S) Champions and artisans from the general populace are invited to participate in our “Anything Slavic” A&S competition. One prize will awarded for the best entry by an A&S Champion and another prize will be awarded for the best entry by any member of the assembled populace. Any medium may be used and documentation is encouraged. Artisans may display items without entering the competition. We also invite performing artists to participate in the “Popular Choice Performance Competition” as well as a non-competitive performance showcase. Performance pieces may be from any SCA period, genre, and/or region. Brewers are encouraged to enter a brewing competition for “Anything Imperial and Winter Warmers.”
Their Excellencies will also select their new Baronial A&S Champion from the Lochmerie entrants. If all that isn’t enough to keep you entertained…A&S classes will be offered throughout the day. As has become traditional, we will be playing the Bag Game! There will also be an Assassin’s Game and a chess tournament.
