Bash with Bacchus

Bacchus is known among men as the god of wine and revelry. Sheltered in the mountains of Seven Hill, we host Bacchus in all his glory as we revel in good wine, good company, and good competition on the field.

A full day of both rapier and armored fighting that will test the mettle of our fighters. A fun archery shoot will also be available.

Gate will open at 9 am

Vendors are welcomed, and encouraged! The gem of our celebration will be our Tavern where libations will be provided by some of our local winery merchants. Tastings and bottles may be purchased at the Tavern. In order to partake at the Tavern a valid photo ID is required.

Martial Activities: On the armored field:
10:00 am Authorizations
10:30 am Capturer la Baton. A melee game where the field is triangular shaped. Depending on the number of fighters this will be either 3 teams against each other or 3 individuals.
12:00 pm Four Barrier. Each person will given 4 ribbons and rotate and fight 4 different weapons at each barrier. Each winner will get the loser\'s ribbon.
2:00 pm Tournament of Chivalry. Unbelted fighters challenging Knights of the realm.

And on the Rapier field:
10:00 am authorizations
10:30 Tourney of MoD. Fighters challenge MoDs of the realm.
12:00 pm Blacksword tourney
2:00 pm Bacchus Melee. There will be a station battle where teams will fill their jug with \"wine\" at stations on the list field.

Archery: 10 am - 2pm Range open

Arts & Sciences Activities: A&S: There will be a judging of skill in the art brewing and/or the best use, or display of, wine/ drinking in other media.

Site: The Sedalia Center 1108 Sedalia School Road Big Island, VA 24526. Site opens Friday 7pm, closes Sunday 11am.

Site Restrictions: Camping is open for any persons who wish to be on staff. Please contact the Event Steward, Zarra de la Vega, if you are interested.

Feast Information: Dinner will be savory meat on a stick, served with seasoned barley, fresh bread and salad. A delicacy of backed apples will be offered for dessert.

Merchanting Information: All merchants are welcome, please contact the Event Steward if you interested.

FROM LYNCHBURG
From the north side: Travel north on Route 501 through Coleman Falls to Big Island. Turn left onto Route 122. Travel south for 6.3 mil
br> From the south side: Travel west on Route 460 toward Bedford/Roanoke. Exit onto Route 122N at Bedford. Travel north (toward Big Island) for approximately 11.5 miles. Turn left at the Sedalia Country Store onto Route 638 (Sedalia School Road). Sedalia Center is on the left side.

FROM BEDFORD
Travel north (toward Big Island) on Route 122 for 11.5 miles. Turn left at the Sedalia Country Store onto Route 638 (Sedalia School Road). The Center is 500 yards further on the left.

FROM CHARLOTTESVILLE
Travel south on Route 29 out of Charlottesville toward Lynchburg. Remain on Route 29 into Madison Heights and turn right onto Route 130. Travel west on Rout 130 to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance. Turn right onto the exit ramp, then left onto the Parkway. Follow the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Big Island exit. Turn left onto the exit ramp, then right onto Route 501. Follow Route 501 approximately 5 miles and then turn right onto Route 122 and travel south approximately 6.3 miles to Sedalia School Road. Turn right onto Sedalia School Road; the Center will be 500 yards further on your left.

FROM WEST VIRGINIA
Travel east on Route 64 to Route 81. Follow 81 south to exit 188A at Buena Vista. Take exit 188A, which becomes Route 60. Follow Route 60 east into Buena Vista. Turn right onto Route 501. Travel Route 501 south, cross the James River and then proceed into Big Island. Turn right onto Route 122 and travel south on Route 122 for 6.3 miles to Sedalia School Road. Turn right onto Sedalia School Road, the Center is 500 yards further on the left side.
