The 10th Anniversary edition of War of the Wings is set to be an amazing event! the baronies of Black Diamond and Highland Foorde are on the attack to rescue their b\'loved sweetlings which have been purloined by the baronies of Nottinghill Coill and Hidden Mountain. Everything we do in the SCA is represented at WoW aside from dog coursing and falconry. Five days of event activities with 3 filled with more than 50 classes, tournaments, melees, shoots & throws on the ranges, parties and pomp! And Merchants! Martial Activities: Tournaments and challenges for Armored and Rapier begin on Thursday and continue Friday. Saturday is full on melees. Cavalry, Siege, Thrown Weapons, Archery and Youth combat fill the schedule. http://warofthewings.com/martial_activities.html

Cost Notes: Pre-registration is $18. After Sept 14 (or at University on the 19th) Gate fee is $20 a person.
Site: Elchenburg Castle. 2239 Center Road, Boonville, NC 27011. Site opens Wednesday, noon. Closes Sunday noon.
Site Restrictions: Pets are allowed but must be controlled at all times and policed. This is a Primitive Camping Site. We try our best to help and accommodate but folks with significant mobility challenges or who need access to electricity should contact the Disabilities Coordinator to determine if the site will be appropriate for them. This is a wet site, modern laws concerning alcohol apply, violation is cause for being put off site. Ground fires and sumps are allowed but must be filled in and coals, rocks, remains of wood, burnt and unburnt, removed to the trees.

Other Information: We have a full three-day schedule of kids\' activities including a ball and trick or treating. As always, this event runs on the generosity and energy of volunteers. We are glad to have help from anyone willing to give some time.

Directions:
From the SOUTH or NORTH: Take your best route to I-77. Take Exit 82 and turn East at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed less than a mile and turn Right onto Messick Rd. Proceed to the end of Messick Rd, and turn Left onto Center Rd. Approx 8 miles later is a Pure gas station on the left and 1.2 miles past that is Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church. The Castle Lane (Willow Springs Lane) is less then 2/10 of a mile further on the Right. Signs will be posted.
From the EAST via Hwy 421: Travel to Exit 259/Reavis Rd. Turn North onto Reavis Rd. Travel .8 miles to stop sign. Turn Right. Travel .5 mile and turn Left onto Center Rd. Travel 3 miles and turn Left onto Willow Spring Ln.
